The Beginning
Med Dox iFind was founded in 2006 by Rich Smith, a career recruiter whose entry into physician search began years earlier — in the late 1990s, helping physicians in training find their first positions pro bono, as a favor that turned into a calling. Med Dox iFind was built to bring that same personal, relationship-first recruiting to physicians across every medical specialty.
The market, in time, chose our specialty for us. As demand for radiologists intensified and teleradiology reshaped how imaging groups hire, more and more of our work concentrated in radiology — and for roughly the past ten years, it has been nearly all of it. We kept the name and the broader capability, but our day-to-day expertise now runs deepest in the radiology job market.
Our Approach
Physician recruitment done well is slow before it's fast. We invest time understanding each hiring organization — its case mix, culture, economics, and why the position is open — and each physician's real priorities, professional and personal, before making a single introduction. That preparation is why our matches tend to last.
Because our practice centers on radiology, we maintain year-round intelligence on that market specifically: radiologist compensation benchmarks, subspecialty supply and demand, group consolidation, and the continuing shift toward remote and hybrid reading. Physicians and employers who work with us get that data straight, whether or not it flatters the deal on the table.
Our Values – Inclusion
Medicine draws talent from everywhere, and so do we. We recruit physicians of every background, training pathway, and career stage, and serve hiring organizations from independent groups to national systems — convinced that a wider net and more perspectives produce stronger matches.
Our Values – Integrity
A physician job search is one of the most confidential things we're ever trusted with. Most of our candidates are currently practicing and exploring quietly. We protect that trust absolutely: nothing about you moves anywhere without your explicit permission, and we tell you the truth about every opportunity — including its downsides.
Our Values – Knowledge
Two decades of physician recruitment, ten of them concentrated in radiology, have taught us that markets move and assumptions expire. We study compensation trends, hiring patterns, and practice economics continuously, and we share what we learn freely with candidates and clients alike.
Our Values – Performance
We define success by durability: a physician thriving in the role years later, and a client who calls us first for the next search. Filling a seat fast is easy; filling it right is the job. We accept only the searches we believe we can complete to that standard.
Our Ethics
Integrity has anchored Med Dox iFind since our founding in 2006, and it remains the core of how we operate.
We also believe ethics in recruitment means empathy. A physician's position determines far more than income — it shapes family life, community, and professional dignity. A hiring organization's open position, left unfilled, strains everyone who covers the gap. We hold both realities in mind on every search.
That is why physicians and employers alike return to Med Dox iFind, and why we're able to attract recruiters we consider the best in the field. People want to work with a firm they can feel good about.
